Lucie went back to preschool on Monday. She was extremely excited to go! By the end of the week she was very tired from 4 days of school. She has the same head teacher as last year...who she loves and there are quite a few of the same kids plus some new ones. She has become a lot more social this year. It is really cool to see the skills that develop with each age.
So, I know it is kind of strange to be blogging about basil, but I am really excited at how well my basil has grown this year. Last year I did not get very much and this year it started off slow because I killed 4 of the 8 plants that I purchased, but 4 survived and have done well. The picture shows 2 of the plants. We really like pesto and so it is really nice to be able to go pick basil right off of my porch!
One more random thought...the other day Jack was pretending to be a fish and I was joking with him about turning him into a fish. Lucie took it literally and became a little nervous that Jack was going to become a fish. I reassured her that Jack was not going to become and fish and she replied, "I know, Mom." I asked her how she knew he was not going to be a fish? Her response..."Because you're not a fairy!" Well, I am glad that she doesn't think I am a fairy, but sometimes it is nice to think that as a mom you have some "magical powers" to fix things!!

Waiting for the Storm...

This afternoon it looked like it was going to rain. Trent, Lucie, Jack were prepared for snow! The kids love to pull out the winter hats, particularly Jack. He pulls it out to wear it in the car sometimes. The stormwatchers were disappointed today...only sprinkles no downpour to watch from the porch.

Suprising the McRae's

We surprised the McRae and Brooks family by going to Izeck's first football game of the seaon in Brigham City. We had a fun afternoon with the McRae's, Brooks, and Ovards. Izeck had a lot of playing time in the game. After the game with hung out at the McRae's house and had dinner with them...the chinese food was excellent!
Lucie was very excited to see Hanna and Kalli. She loves playing with them!
The pictures show Izeck's team running back into the game after half-time, Lucie and Kalli on the football field...silly girls! The last picture shows Jack giving Izeck a crabby look! We thought Jack wanted his picture taken by Izeck, but then when Izeck sat down to be closer to Jack's height, Jack got a little scared and gave Izeck the crabby look! Thanks for trying Izeck!
We had a great day...thanks for letting us hang out. It was nice to see and visit with you!

Jack and Macie are only three weeks apart in age, but there is a bit of an height difference! One of Jack's many nicknames is "tiny little super guy." Does anyone remember that song/cartoon from Sesame Street?
I was so proud of Lucie...she not only tried the fire pole, but there was a twisty ladder that she climbed as well!

Another Good Reason to Start a Blog!
I am really enjoying the blog thing. It has been a fun way to keep up on my journaling and pictures. I was mentioning this to a friend who said that it is possible to have your blog printed as a book to actually keep and preserve it as family history(thanks Sally!). I "googled" this idea the other day and found a website called www.blurb.com.
You can download free software and then it will do all the work to download the posts from the blog. I tried it out and it worked pretty good. It did not download my pictures so now I have switched to using Picasa (http://picasa.google.com/blogger/) to upload my pictures to my blog. We will see if that works better?
Just wanted to share this info in case any of you wanted to make your blog a book or needed motivation to start a blog!
Thanks for all of your emails and comments...we are really enjoying hearing from you. It has been a lot of fun to keep in touch a little bit better!

Double Bee Sting
Lately, the day does not seem complete without some sort of drama! On Thursday Lucie was stung by a bee twice...ouch! And believe me if you were anywhere close to our house you could hear her screams. And applying the principle that you can find joy in all situations...I was grateful because I could hold Lucie and comfort her. The mud did its job (we were wondering if it was just an "old wives tale!") and by night time she was feeling just fine!
Westons and Wrights
We had such a fun evening on Tuesday! We were able to visit with our friends the Westons and Wrights. The Westons live close by, but before last week we had not hung out since Spencer and Lucie were about 18 months old. The Wrights live in Arizona and so we do not get to see them very often either. Spencer and Lucie really had a good time playing together...riding bikes, playing in the sand, and playing in the house. Spencer and Lucie were born just hours apart from each other at the same hospital. I reorganized my pictures today and came across pictures when they were newborns so I will post it for fun!!We are glad that we can keep in touch through emails and blogs! Thanks for visiting with us...we had a really good time!

Adventures in Play Dough

Today I made some homemade play dough because I did not want to smell the store kind. The smell is not appealing as an adult! When I was little and Noelle and I played with her super play dough factory it did not bother me at all, but it just goes to show your senses change!! Lucie and her friend Chloe made butterflies and Jack did good at rolling his dough into pieces and not eating any!
Trista Time
Trent's sister Trista was visiting from Washington DC last weekend. The Schoonie Family had a BBQ at Nicki's house. Here are some pictures from our evening!
Thanks, Trista for the visit. It was nice to see you!
We were trying to get Jack to cooperate for a picture, but he was having a lot of fun throwing grass on Trista!

Adventure @Thanksgiving Point
We went with the Weston's to the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point. This is Jack's adventure story...
First, I discovered the hand dryers (1st time ever using one and I could reach the on button)! I decided that there was a lot more uses for it then just drying my hands.

After the hand dryers we checked out the extra large scale. We decided to see how many of us could get on before maxing out the weight limit.

I liked taking a ride on the dinosaur...check it out!
This gets me every time...I just like to stand an admire how big that shark's mouth is!

Weird Week
We have had a strange week at our house. Lucie was sick with a temperature of 102-104 for 4 days. On the 3rd day we took her to the doctor who thought it may be strep throat, but would treat it as a virus until the throat culture came back. It was not a very helpful doctor's appointment, but I think we needed to make that trip for other reasons....
We had only been home about 45 minutes from the doctor and Jack started crying a very strange cry and gasping for air. The short version of the story is that Jack became very sweaty and began to go in and out of consciousness. Believe me this was not a fun experience. 911 is not a fun phone number to call. The dispatcher was very nice and talked me through everything until the paramedics arrived. The paramedics were awesome as Jack had come out of what we now know was a type of seizure.
Jack was stable enough for us to drive him to the hospital. Jack then went through about 5 hours of tests...blood draws, EKG, cat scan. The nurses called him and "angel." We knew he was not feeling well because normal behavior would be down and checking everything out in the room or escaping the room!
It was a long day, but Jack and his mom and dad made it through! By nighttime he was acting more like himself. We took a couple of pictures on our camera phone and if we get those off I will post some pictures.
By Friday both Lucie and Jack were feeling better and we are crossing our fingers that we are finally done with the sick bug!
