Firsts

We had a few "firsts" this week.
Jack went to the dentist for the very first time. Trent wondered if I was trying to torture myself by taking Jack to the dentist, but it was one of those situations where Jack never siezes to amaze us. He did absolutely awesome! I know in the picture he looks like he is a little out of it. He sat in the chair and opened his mouth and layed there nicely for the whole checkup! He was probably very motivated by getting a new toothbrush, a tooth timer, dental floss, a little car and a certificate for a free happy meal from Del Taco. He knew about all of these things from when Lucie went to her checkup a couple of months ago.

Jack dressed himself for preschool...hence the blue shorts and blue shirt, his rain boots and cowboy hat (that is too small)! Whatever makes him happy at 8am!

Lucie received her first school pictures.
Funny Story...On Friday afternoon I went to help in Lucie's classroom. When I walked in her teacher had a bit of a "I am surprised to see you look" on her face. She then told me that Lucie had told her that I had the baby last night! She told her teacher a name and that her aunt had her baby as well! We had a good laugh! After school when we were driving home I told Lucie that her teacher was a bit surprised to see me today and she just started giggling! I thought it was hilarious how quickly she knew what I was talking about!

Importance of Voting

A friend posted the following video on her blog and I think it is such a good reminder for all of us and the responsibility that we have to vote this coming November. It also reminds me of the responsibility that we each have on a daily basis to stand up for the values that we believe in, especially the family. Please watch it...

The Official Last Day of SUMMER...

My little friends became such good buddies over the summer!
It was such a great, relaxed summer enjoyed mostly at home. It was the first summer that we did not sign up for any classes and it worked out so well.
Lucie and Jack had the BEST time playing together.
They had fun playing outside, inside, doing activities together. It was a lot of fun to watch them interact and get along so well together. They are always watching out for each other and I hope that their relationship will only get stronger as they get older.

Fun with Cousins!

Last weekend Lucie and Jack had a lot of fun playing with cousins! It was an afternoon of non-stop playing! They pretended to decorate the sandbox for a wedding...Jack has become our resident photographer. He ran in the house to get his camera and then posed everyone for pictures!

The group...we love you all and were glad you could come spend the afternoon with us!
Taking a popsicle break...
Jack and Macie were so cute playing together!

Eagle Court of Honor

Our ward had not had an Eagle Scout in 13 years. That all changed on Sunday night when one of Trent's young men received the award! It was a really nice Court of Honor. I especially enjoyed a piano duet of patriotic songs. It made reminded me of how blessed we are to live in America. I was really excited for Trent because he and his counselors have been working very hard to help make this happen. He is a true example of being disciplined and dedicated to his calling and I am grateful for his example. There is the potential of 5 more young men in our ward to receive an Eagle in the next year and 1/2!

Class T-Shirts

Today Lucie's class was tie dying t-shirts for their class shirts. Then they get to wear them once a month to school as a free day from uniform. Jack and I went to help with the dying during their recess.

On the left is Lucie and her teacher, on the right is Lucie standing by the drying t-shirts.

The whole class by the finished products!
So, I was outside with other moms hanging up the finished t-shirts to dry and Lucie came running back out of her classroom. She bit her lip during snack time and it started to bleed. She was very sad. It was time for her class to go to art so her teacher said I could along and be a helper. Jack was awesome...he jumped right in line with the other children to go to art!! He was so good. He sat on my lap and listened intently to the story that the art teacher read and then the teacher was so nice and gave him a paper to work on as well. Near the end of art class the teacher asked the children to put away their crayons and fold their arms and a few would be able to share what they drew. I was at the back of the class and when I looked up to check on Jack at the front he had followed directions exactly...he had put away his crayons and was folding his arms and listening to the children share. I had to sneak a quick picture because it was so sweet! He was an honorary kindergartner today!

My Little Gosling

My little gosling turned 3 this past week!!
This little name came from the book...
because Gossie loves to wear red boots, everyday. Well, my little friend loved to wear red boots everyday until he wore them out. Now we are on to blue boots! He also loves to take his shirt off!
I cannot believe my little friend turned 3. He is my buddy and we get to hang out together a lot. He loves to play house and play with his trucks. He knew exactly what he wanted to do for his birthday. He chose to go bowling and to Training Table. He LOVES to eat out and knows far too many restaurants and what he likes to get at each one.
We had a little party on the day of his party. It was a lot of fun to watch him open his gifts. He was right into it, enjoying every minute. When he says thank you, he is really sweet because he usually always makes sure to address the person he is saying thank you to...like "thank you mom" or "thank you grammie."

He also had fun going to the BYU football game with Trent, grandpa, Bill, Izeck, Parker, Nick and Brig. Jack lasted the whole game plus 2 hours prior to game time at the stadium! He was a trooper considering it was close to 100 degree temperatures.
I LOVE my litttle friend who melts my heart everyday with his smile and his eyes as he asks me to play with him. I am grateful I get to be his mom!

1st Day of Preschool and Other Misc Happenings!

I have been having blogging and computer withdrawals! I have not had a chance to sit at our home computer since Monday....this week has been a great week just a little busy. One item on my agenda for this weekend is to get a new calendar with bigger spaces so I can keep track of all the little things that I need to be doing each day. My memory and my little pocket calendar is not cutting it!!
The BIG event of our week was Jack's first day of preschool! Overall I really think that he was looking forward to it...just a little apprehensive about how it works. As parents we are just never sure how Jack is going to actually react to a situation until we are in the situation. He amazed me and I was able to breathe a sigh of relief when I walked out of the classroom and he was ok...not a single tear. I want him to miss me, but I also did not not want him to be hysterical.
After school I asked him how his day was and he responded with a big smile and said it was all good. On the way home I was trying to ask him more specific questions...what they had for snack, what he played with outside, what stories they read, etc...he said, "stop it." I said you want Lucie to stop doing something and he said, "no mom, you stop asking me questions!" He told me he had a good day now he wanted me to leave it at that...just another difference between a girl and a boy perspective at our house...Lucie wants to tell us every detail and Jack is a laid back little boy that is content with "it was all good!"

Another school memory from this week...Trent and I had a meeting at Lucie's school this week. She came home telling us that her teacher said it was a night for parents to come to school. Before we were getting ready to leave Lucie asked Trent if we were going to wear socks. Trent responded that he was wearing socks, but mom would probably not wear socks. She was a little annoyed and said, but don't you have to wear uniform. I guess since her teacher said it was parents turn to come to school she wanted us to dress like she does!
