Lucky

Ruby decided she wanted to empty the dishwasher. She is a super helpful little friend (sometimes a little too helpful:).
Luckily everything was still intact and the plates were in a nice little stack.
The utensils were strewn about the floor!
This is exactly how I found it...

Hockey & Kindness

Jack is completely into hockey right now and is learning how to skate so that he can play hockey himself. On Friday night we went to a BYU hockey game and all 3 of our friends loved it! We were not planning on staying for all 3 periods, especially at the end of the 2nd period when I dropped Trent's iPhone through the bleachers and it fell 15-20ft. Trent was EXTREMELY patient and did not say one unkind word (I would have been saying not so nice things), but he is AMAZING that way. Anyways, HUGE blessing. His iPhone was perfectly fine. I think we received that blessing because we needed to stay for the 3 period of the game.
So, Trent was ready to go but our little friends begged us to stay and we are so glad we did. We have a ward member (Josh Burkart) who plays on the BYU hockey team. He has been so nice to Jack and to all of us...helping us with skating and hockey advice. At the end of the game he waved for Trent and Jack to come down to the glass. He tossed the game puck over to Jack. Jack as ELATED! It seriously made Jack's night, day, life...I think and hope it will be a moment he will always remember. That hockey puck has become a treasure to him. He slept with that night and been taking very good care of it. We were able to get Jack's picture with Josh. On the way home we talked about how nice that was of Josh to think of Jack! It was a really cool experience and we are so appreciative of the example and kindness of Josh!

Reading Day

Today, all I wanted to do was finish the book I was reading...
I read 150 pages today.
I read while my little friends played.
I read when Luc ran in to get the Jacksters from school.
I read when I should have been doing the dishes or the laundry.
When Trent came home from work he was super sweet
and said go finish your book
and I will make dinner and clean up dinner...
And I finished a 500 page book!
I have had this book sitting on my shelf for a few years now, but have never read it
until our ward book club choose it for this month.
I really liked this book.
It was an ordinary story, nothing special or spectacular.
It reminded me though that ordinary lives are something pretty special and something
to be cherished!

Go Cougs!

Jack is super hyped up about the BYU(19-1)/San Diego St(20-0) bball game tonight! He has been asking constantly since he got home from school when the game was starting and Trent even called and added the CBS College Sports channel so we could watch the game (even though we are recording it for him since he is at a school meeting)! Jack's BYU jersey was in the take away basket and he asked what he could do to earn it back for good luck! He is perched on the couch anxiously awaiting the tip off!

Carl Bloch

This picture was taken in December by Lucie when we went to the Carl Bloch exhibit. I was talking to my friend today who's husband (Brian Bird) was an exhibition and graphic designer for the museum. He passed away the day after Thanksgiving and BYU has dedicated the exhibit in his name for his contributions to the exhibit. My friend feels like her husband gave his life to putting this exhibit together. This exhibit has been a 9 year project. She shared some really cool thoughts on the exhibit. These paintings are amazing and for the few people that read this I would encourage you to go see the exhibit if you live in Utah.

What Language Do We Speak??

We went to the library today. When we were getting in the car Jack was looking at one of the books that he picked out.
He immediately asked me if this book was written in Spanish.
I think that maybe he thought that because it was one of those books with a gizzilon words on the page and it just looked different.
I said, no it's in English.
Jack looked at me and said English...we speak English!
Light-bulb!

Thank Heavens for Creative People:)

So, the music chorister had an emergency on Sunday morning and I needed to throw together some things for singing time. I found this heart idea on a singing blog. It's kind of crazy all of the different blogs that are out there. Anyways, I put together this crazy looking heart. We used it to review the song for this month in Primary, If I Listen with My Heart. I thought I would take a picture of it to remind me of my day.

Fav Thing

We introduced ice skating to our little friends and they are all in LOVE with it! Someday I will get a photo of all of us skating, but the one this time did not turn out. Luc and Jack are both taking lessons and Ruby is a wanna be lesson taker...a few more months and then she can:)

A.M.

Yes, this is 1:46 AM and I am just going to bed. It's amazing because tonight Trent and I watched 1 whole movie, parts of a 2nd movie (it wasn't that great), and 2 hours of 30 Rock and I stayed AWAKE through all of it (which is amazing for me). Netflix streaming is a fabulous thing:)

Oh Yeah Baby!

Today was one of those awesome grocery shopping trips! I usually write a grocery list and estimate dollar amounts for everything so I make sure I stay in budget. Today I skipped that part and just went to the store. I felt so lucky because it was a shopping trip where I felt like I actually got a lot of stuff, stayed within budget and did it all in a 1/2 hour! The stars aligned:)

So Peaceful

This pic pretty much speaks for itself. I had laid her down on the couch. When I came back to get her she had propped herself up like this. She was really zonked out...I had brought her in from the car asleep, laid her down, and then carried her back to the car and she stayed asleep through all of it!

Junk!

Our kitchen counter is a magnet for collecting stuff. Sunday always seems the worst culprit day because we get home from church and set everything down. Since yesterday we were playing my stuff collected Sunday, Monday and now I am digging out on Tuesday! It extends from our counter to a table. Pretty much lame and I know it's really not junk, but it feels like it when it's all piled up!

MLK Day

Since it was a holiday today we decided to make a day of it! We went and saw Tangled with the Ovards. Soooo good! I really liked it and so did my friends. I think it got a little too girly for Jackers in a few parts. He was like oh brother attitude a few times, but overall I think he enjoyed it. At the first when Rapunzel lets all her hair down Jackers was like whoa that it is a lot of hair!
After the movie we went to the golden arches. They pretty much thought it was the best day ever because we ate inside so they got to play, I let them get happy meals, and ice cream at the end!
On our way home we decided since it was actually nice outside the kids should ride bikes. Once we were home we decided it felt so nice outside that we should all go for a bike ride. Noelle and I created this big adventure for ourselves. We had to haul all of the bikes outside, then attempt to hook on a bike trailer, and a co-pilot bike. We certainly created an entertaining afternoon for ourselves!
When we thought we were already to go Noelle took off on the bike with the co-pilot attached and Brig was riding crooked. So we unhooked that and decided we would shorten our ride and Brig would ride his own bike. I took off on Trent's bike that had too tight of a seat and I could not get it lowered. I am sure I looked awkward because I certainly felt awkward. My pant leg got caught on the chain as I was riding and I could not get it undone and I had to have Noelle stop me! Oh goodness...we ended up riding to building at the end of our street and around the parking lot and coming back home! It was a kicked backed day! I enjoyed myself and spending time with my little friends and the Ovards!

Mary Poppins Purse

Today at church one of our friends sat by us. She had the Mary Poppins purse! She kept pulling or rather Ruby kept pulling all sorts of treasure and goodies out. She had notebooks, cool markers and pens, her wallet, makeup, phone. Ruby sat so nicely and contently all of sacrament meeting. It was lovely! Our friend gave Luc some Korean money that she had from when she lived there. Luc was very excited with her treasure!

Playing Dress Up

Luc, Jack and Ruby were playing with the dress up clothes at my parent's house. We were leaving to go to a baptism and they did not want to leave the toys. They asked if they could wear the dress up clothes to the baptism. We agreed and they were happy as clams! Lucie's and Ruby's dresses and Jack's sports coat are all from the dress up bin. My dad and mom put together this awesome dress up bin for all the grand kids for Christmas. They have ties, sports coats, dresses, play hair, shoes, hats. It's awesome! I thought they all looked pretty cute! Jack had comments that he was sporting the Miami Vice look!

A Very Sweet Husband

So, this is not a very good picture but it's more about what the strawberry represents then the actual picture. I did not do a very good job of taking care of myself on Friday. We had a busy day right from the first of doing a fund-raising project at Luc's school, then I went straight to VT, grabbed a quick PB & Jam sandwich but it didn't really cut it by that point. Needless to say by 5 o'clock I was tired and hungry. We were debating where to get pizza from and then when we went to get it Ruby had to go potty so we hurried back home. We ended up not getting enough pizza and I was a crab to say the least!
Trent was super sweet and went back out and got me Zupas. I love Zupas, but it is not Trent's favorite. He picked me up a sandwich and some of my favorite soup. I felt a lot better after eating and we were able to have a fun evening watching Despicable Me as a family!

Her Very Own Style!

Ruby is a spunky little girl! She has a major scowl that she can stare people down with, she has a sweet smile, taste buds for all sorts of random things like lotion, hair mouse. I have to keep the bathroom cupboard tied up because she will get into all of the things and have herself a tasty little treat! She is also into getting dressed and getting undressed. She LOVES to say, "I'm naked!" She also loves to do her hair. Today she got into the pomade and became a grease ball. Trent had to wash her hair 3 times to get all of the gunk out. Lovely do I tell ya!

Making Cookies

Brig, Ruby, Sophia and I decided to make cookies this afternoon. They were all good helpers. They each took turns dumping the ingredients into the bowl. When we started mixing Ruby and Sophia wanted to be as close as possible. I told them to fold their arms because they were making me nervous about sticking their hands a little hands too close. They were very obedient and I thought looked very cute folding their arms!
BTW the m&m cookies were super yummy! I have had a huge sweet tooth lately that I need to get over:)

Treasure Chest

The theme for Primary this year is I Know the Scriptures Are True. Every week when a child or teacher reads from the scriptures they can add a link to a paper chain. As a Primary we are going to see how far our chain reaches by the end of the year...the goal is for it to reach around the outside perimeter of our church! The kids seem super excited about this project! We will keep our paper chain in our treasure chest to help remind us that we are laying up treasures in heaven when we read the scriptures!

Snow Cross

Brig invited Jack to go with him to Snow Cross! Jack was super excited to go hang out with the Ovards, to go to Snow Cross and to see Tucker Hipper! Brig introduced Jack to name of Tucker Hipper. Jack and Brig love to pretend that they Chad Reid and Tucker Hipper and I am still trying to figure out what motorcycle sports they participate in!
From the looks of the picture it looks like they are having a great time and are all bundled up! I am excited to hear all the details from Jack when he gets home!
Thanks Ovards!

A Lunch Date

Today I had a lunch date with the sweetest 2 year old in our household! Ruby was so excited when I sat down by her to eat lunch. She said to me..."you sit by me?" When I said YES she got the biggest smile on her face! We had a great little conversation and when I finished my sandwich she offered me a piece of hers.

ruby has entered the cheeeezie smile phase!

Reading Time

Lucie is doing really well with her reading this year. She has decided it is fun to read, but we were still struggling to make it a point to have her read everyday. After I pick her up from school we head to Orem to get Jack from school. We now carry a book in the car so that she can read aloud to us during that time. Her teacher and our friend loaned her a couple of the Clementine books for Luc to read. They are very entertaining and spunky! I also really enjoy listening to Luc read. She is doing well to improve her fluency and put more expression into her reading.

Something New

Smoothies have been a favorite at our house for several months now. For Christmas we received a special treat from my parents. A new blender that is the industrial version of blenders! We are getting lots of fiber now dropping whole apples (seeds and all) into our smoothies!
Tonight we had a fun night with our little friends. We went hot tubing and and then we made shakes in our new gift. The caramel shakes were delish. It made me want to go out and buy shake glasses and some whip cream to make them all fancy! Maybe that will be a picture for another day:)

A Sweet Treat

I surprised Lucie Goose with a cake bit from the Sweet Tooth Fairy today. After school she hopped into the car and I handed it to her and this was her face expression. Made both of our days!
